THE ACADEMIC CENTER
In February of 2008, the Pulaski School District established the Academic Center. Located at an off-campus site in the village of Pulaski, it was created to accommodate students who do not achieve well in a traditional school setting. It is staffed by one full time teacher and one teacher assistant. Currently approximately 18 full and/or part-time students from the Pulaski, Sandy Creek, Mexico, and APW school districts attend. Instruction is provided on an individual needs basis, with teacher instruction supplemented with the online educational curriculum site NovaNet. It is equipped with 12 computer workstations for students, a teacher station, a Smartboard, projector, and wireless slate.
To this date, the program has proved to be successful, preventing some students from dropping out of school completely, and helping others to achieve NYS Regents diplomas.
